The Yurei
In japanes believes all humans have a spirit/soul called ' Reikon'. When they die, the spirit leaves the body and wait till they get a proper funeral and post funeral rites to be performed, so they can join their ancestors,
however when a person dies a sudden death, like by suicide or murder, and their proper rites aren't performed, and they are influenced by powerfull emotions such as spite, love, jealousy, hatred, revenger or sorrow, the reikon transforms into a yurei, that makes them possoble to go back to the physical world.
The yurei, continue to exist on earth, until the spirit gets a funeral, either by performing the missing rituals or resolving the emotional conflict. when that doesn't happen, the yurei, keeps on haunting
Yūrei do not wander at random, but generally stay near a specific location, such as where they were killed or where their body lies, or follow a specific person, such as their murderer, or a beloved. They usually appear between 2 and 3 a.m, the witching hour for Japan when the veils between the world of the dead and the world of the living are at there thinnest.Yūrei will continue to haunt that particular person or place until their purpose
is fulfilled, and they can move on to the afterlife. However, some particularly strong yūrei, specifically onryō who are consumed by vengeance, continue to haunt long after their killers have been brought to justice.

how do they look
-white clothing, kimono
-black hair. very long
-hands and feet, hands dangle lifeless from the wristes, outstretched with the elbows near the body, they don't seem to have legs and feet and float above the ground
- some kind of flames: yurei are accompanied by a pair of floating flames in eerie colors like blue, green or purple

different kinds of yurei

*Onryō - Vengeful ghosts who come back from purgatory for a wrong done to them during their lifetime.
*Ubume - A mother ghost who died in childbirth, or died leaving young children behind. This yūrei returns to care for her children, often bringing them sweets.
*Goryō - Vengeful ghosts of the aristocratic class, especially those who were martyred.
*Funayūrei - The ghosts of those who perished at sea.
*Zashiki-warashi - The ghosts of children, often mischievious rather than dangerous.
**Warrior Ghosts - Veterans of the Genpei War who fell in battle. Warrior Ghosts almost exclusively appear in Noh Theater.
*Seductress Ghosts - The ghost of a woman or man who initiates a post-death love affair with a living human.

Rules
1 -- You have to use my stock as a part of the image ( brushes, backgrounds, textures) )
2-- You may use other stocks to.
3-- you have to create an image that is based on a japanese ghost don't look at my image because i didn't have the time to paint some kind of kimono on her so it has to have an japanese feel into italso explain a bit why and what ghost you chose
4-- you have to note me with your entry, ' contest entry jurei' and also if  you are a beginner, intermediated, or advanced
5-- you can make photomanipulation, traditional or digital painting from the theme
6-- you can enter with 2 images in the contest
7-- only new made pieces submitted after 10-09-2006 may enter the contest
8-- Be creative and have fun
